An early issue of the first newspaper in Utah, having begun in 1850. This is the volume 3, number 12 issue.
Most of the front page is taken up with a portion of the: "Life Of Joseph Smith".
Page 3 has: "TERRITORY  OF UTAH - PROCLAMATION BY THE GOVERNOR" which is signed by him in type: Brigham Young.
This is Young's action to create a military force to quell the problems with: "...a horde of Mexicans, or outlandish men, who are infesting the settlements, stirring up the Indians to make aggressions upon the inhabitants; & who are also furnishing the Indians with guns, ammunition, etc...". 
Also within: "Mormonism in Washington" "Minutes of the General Conference...Pres. Young delivered the following SERMON", and other items.
Four pages, dirtiness & some fold wear to the top quadrant of the front page only, otherwise in good condition.
