Death of Handel...
Item # 697973
April 14, 1759
LONDON CHRONICLE, England, April 14, 1759 Among the front page news from London is a brief but notable report about the death of George Frederic Handel, one of the more famous composers of the Baroque era. The report reads simply: "Yesterday died George-Frederick Handel, Esq; the great musician."
Although born in Germany, Handel settled in London in 1712 where he spent the bulk of his career and became a naturalized British subject in 1727. Her is perhaps best known for his work "Messiah".
Great to have this report in a newspaper from the city where he worked and died.
Eight pages, 8 1/4 by 11 1/2 inches, never bound nor trimmed, nice condition.
