NEW YORK HERALD, Feb. 19, 1865  Of special interest is the page 5 illustration headed: "The New Rebel Flag" with descriptive text beginning: "The new rebel flag is officially described as follows: The width two-thirds of its length, with the Union (now used as the battle flag) to be in width three-fifths of the width of the flag..." with more.
The front page is dominated by a large & very detailed Civil War map headed: "SHERMAN IN THE HEART OF SOUTH CAROLINA. Occupation of Columbia, the State Capital---Probable Evacuation of Charleston."
Among the front page column heads on the Civil War include: "SHERMAN" "Columbia Ours!" "Occupation of the Capital of South Carolina" "Beauregard Officially Announces that Sherman Reached the City on Feb. 17" "Charleston Is Being Evacuated" "The Rebels Admit that the Occupation of Columbia Necessitates the Fall of Charleston" "Rumored Capture of Augusta, Georgia" 'THE SOUTH" "Rumored Evacuation of Wilmington" "Heavy Concentration of Union Troops in North Carolina: "SHENANDOAH" and so much more.
Eight pages, irregular at the spine due to disbinding, otherwise in nice condition.
