Governor...recommending it to the inhabitants to return to their settlements along Hudson's river, above Albany, as they may now abide there in safety...secured from the ravages of the enemy...Major-General Amherst hath assured him that the fortresses erecting at Crown-Point shall be so far finished before the troops go into winter quarters..." with more.
