THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Nov. 1, 1763 The top of page 5 has reports from Providence and Newport, Rhode Island, the latter having slave trade mention with: "...from the coast of Africa...informed of the arrival of the Captains Morris, Ferguson & Wickham...who write very discouraging accounts of the trade upon the coast & that upwards of 200 gallons of neat rum had been given per head for slaves, and scarcely to be got at any rate for that commodity."
