Rarely are we able to secure antebellum newspapers from this city.
Among the articles: "Mississippi" which begins: "Gov. Quitman's message to the legislature of Mississippi is strongly in favor of secession and disunion..."; "Free Negroes at the South" "The Fugitive Slaves in Boston" "Deaths on the Prairies" its numbers of those who died in their trek across the Plains, including: "...963 graves...that at least 5,000 persons perished on the plains last season...counted 1661 dead mules, 4960 dead horses, and 3750 dead oxen and cows..." with more.
Also runaway ads headed: "Five Cents Reward" and: "$75 Reward" with details.
Four pages, very nice condition.
