Item # 692089
May 18, 1861
NEW YORK ILLUSTRATED NEWS, May 18, 1861  Formatted very much like the more popular 'Harper's Weekly' but considerably more uncommon.
The full front page shows; "Shooting a Rebel Who Was Caught Tampering With the Rails...". Prints within include: "General View of Annapolis" "Passage of Troops en Route from Annapolis to Washington..." "Recruiting Office--'Union Volunteers' and more, including a cartoon: "Baltimore 'Gorilla' ". A nice doublepage centerfold: "Camp of the New York Seventh Regiment on Georgetown Heights, Washington".
Sixteen pages, minor tears at the margins, a bit irregular at the spine.
