Early & very detailed on Japan... California news...

Item # 691716 ·
DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Nov. 11, 1852  The entirety of page 2 is taken up with an extremely detailed article: "The Japanese Empire". This is quite early on Japan as it was not until the following year that the famed American Commodore Matthew Perry led his four ships into the harbor at Tokyo Bay, seeking to re-establish for the first time in over 200 years regular trade and discourse between Japan and the western world.
Page 3 has an entire column taken up with: "California News" which includes subheads: "The Overland Immigration--The Coast Survey--Indian Affairs--Meeting of Postmasters--The Mines".
Four pages, a bit irregular at the blank spine, nice condition.
