DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., April 27, 1847  Reports inside include: "Gen. Taylor--Mexican Banditti" which is signed in type: Z. Taylor. Also: "Interesting to Volunteers" which is on the Mexican War; "On the New Planet" concerning the recent discovery of Neptune; and a nice article: "Minesota" [Minnesota] which is very descriptive "...of this new Territory...". This is likely one of the earliest descriptions of it in a period newspaper. It would not become a state until 1858.
