Also: "The Gold Fever" has a letter beginning: "The gold fever, which is spreading like an epidemic through the whole country...The attempt to guard the public property from gold-hunters & squatters...might lead to very serious consequences..." and much more. And then: "Late From California" which takes most of a column.
