Seducing the youth to join the military...

Item # 680587 ·
THE WEEKLY MESSENGER, Boston, Jan. 20, 1815  Page 3 has an interesting article on the unfortunate practice of the: "Seduction Of Youth" into the military, as the article is headed. It notes a recruiting advertisement mentioning: "The youthful hero whose patriotism & ardor has heretofore been restrained by the rigid laws of the state can now...joining said regiment without the consent of either parent...Forward then, my brave lads..." with more, followed by criticism for such a practice.
A few other tidbits relating to the War of 1812 as well. Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, very nice condition.
