SPRINGFIELD REPUBLICAN, Mass. July 20, 1918

* RMS Carpathia sunk by German submarine U-55
* Famous for rescuing the RMS Titanic survivors

The top of the front page has a one column heading: "CARPATHIA IS SUNK" with subheads and photo. (see) I wonder how many people knew that this ocean liner, famous for the rescue of the Titanic survivors actually was sunk by a German U-boat during World War I ?
Much more on World War I events of the day. Complete with 16 pages, light toning and minor wear at the margins, small library label within the masthead, generally good.
