DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, May 8, 1862

  • Rare rebel publication

From the capital of the Confederate States of America. The front page includes: "Highly Important From the Peninsula" "Partizan Rangers" "Movements & Spirit of the War--The Fall of New Orleans--Attempt to Fire the Yankee Fleet..." "Pikes & Lances" and more on the Civil War. Page 2 begins with an interesting editorial, a portion noting: "...If we are successful & retain Richmond, there will be foreign intervention & peace...before the month of June. If we are defeated & lose Richmond the Confederacy is launched on a wide, troubled & uncertain sea of accidents...".
Complete as a full size single sheet with a banner masthead. Very nice, clean condition.
