October 12, 1861
SUGAR PLANTER, West Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Oct. 12, 1861

* Very rare Confederate title

Here is a very uncommon title from Louisiana during the first year of the Civil War. The front page is filled with ads, and among the reports on the back page are a report headed: "Good News!" noting in part: "...a force of Confederates under Gen. Patton Anderson landed upon Santa Rosa Island...& stormed the camp of Billy Wilson's Zouaves...The enemy's loss said to be very great." Also: "What the Yankees Lose" "The Washington Butchery" "A Good Joke on Fremont" "The Confederate Flag" and other items.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper, very nice condition.
