NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., March 10, 1857  The front page begins with a report on the dissenting opinion in the historic Dred Scott Decision. It is headed: "Supreme Court" and mentions in part: "...Mr. Justice McLean delivered his opinion in the case of Dred Scott vs. Sandford...It was in dissent from the conclusion of the majority of the Court. Mr. Justice Curtis then delivered his opinion in the same case, which also dissents from the judgment of the majority..." with more.
Most of page 2 is taken up with: "An Act making appropriations for the...expenses of the Indian Department & for fulfilling treaty stipulations..." with headings for each of the tribes and specifics as to how the money is to be used.
Irregular at the spine & some loss in the bottom margin, neither affecting any text.
