RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, June 18, 1864  Not only a nice Confederate newspaper, but from the capital of the Confederacy. The front page has:  "The War News" with various subheads & reports; "The Six Per Cent Bonds" 'The Courts" "Rifles For the Army" "From the Armies In Georgia" "Casualties"; a letter from: "Camp Eleventh Regiment Ga. Volunteers" and other smaller items.
The back page has a lengthy editorial which includes: "...At Petersburg General Beauregard has added another score to the long debt of gratitude which the South honestly owes to him...General Lee announces that he has wrested from the enemy the position known as Howletts...one point remains undecided...it is Lynchburg & the future of the Valley army under Hunter..." with much more.
Other war-related items include: "The War on the South Side--Fighting in the Vicinity of Petersburg--Batteries Taken by the Enemy and Retaken by Our Forces--The Military Situation up to Thursday Night" "Latest News From the North" "The Confederate Constitution and Habeas Corpus" "General Grant as a Drinker" and a bit more.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper, some scattered foxing, several creases, generally nice.
