Over half of the front page is taken up with a Proclamation" by King Charles II for the apprehension of his illegitimate son the Duke of Monmouth. The text of the Proclamation reads in part: "...received information upon oath that James Duke of Monmouth [and others]...have traitorously conspired together & with divers other ill-affected & desperate persons of this our kingdom, to compass the death and destruction of our Royal Person, & of our dearest brother James Duke of York..." with more. This was for his involvement in the Rye House Plot, a plan to assassinate the king & his brother, the Duke of York.
