THE MONITOR, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, April 19, 1865

* Abraham Lincoln assassination (1st report)
* Ford's Theater - John Wilkes Booth

Being a weekly newspaper page 2 has a first report of the death of Abraham Lincoln with column heads: "Death Of The PRESIDENT" "The National Horror" "Mr. Lincoln Is Assassinated" "The Assassination in His Private Box at the Theatre" "Pistol Ball Penetrates The Brain" "The Murderer Leaps Upon the Stage and Escapes".
There are related articles on the assassination as well as a lengthy editorial headed: "The Nation Mourns a Martyred Father". There is also the official death report from the Secretary of War headed: "Death Of The PRESIDENT" reading: "Abraham Lincoln died this morning at twenty-two minutes after seven o'clock." signed in type by: Edward M. Stanton.
Complete as a 4 page issue but it is in "2nd rate" condition, as archivally rejoined at the spine, various archival mends throughout, several small holes but causing very little loss to the Lincoln content, other margin tears, browning, etc.
A great opportunity for a first report of Lincoln's assassination at a very reasonable price.
