The top of the front page features two photos of iconic film star & dancer Fred Astaire, beneath which is a two column head: "Fred Astaire, Movies' Greatest Dancer, Dies" with subhead: "Master of Style, Elegance Was 88". The article carries over to take half of page 16 and features 3 more photos.
Great to have this report not only in a newspaper from the capital of the entertainment industry, but also from the city where he lived & died.
Astaire's stage and subsequent film and television careers spanned 76 years, during which he made 31 musical films. As a dancer, he is best remembered for his sense of rhythm, his perfectionism, and as the dancing partner and on-screen romantic interest of Ginger Roger. He was ranked by the American Film Institute as the fifth greatest male star of classic Hollywood era.
