DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Dec. 4, 1847  The entire page 2 and a portion of page 3 are taken up with a terrific article: "Peace With Mexico, by Albert Gallatin" a quite famous work. In it, former Congressman and Secretary of the Treasury Gallatin examines the annexation of Texas by the United States and the resulting war with Mexico.
Among the subheads are: "The Law of Nations" which begins: "It seems certain that Mexico must ultimately submit to such terms as the United States shall dictate...". Also: "Indemnities to Citizens of the United States" "Annexation of Texas" "Negotiations & War" "The Claim of Texas to the Rio del Norte as its Boundary Examined" "Recapitulation" and "Terms of Peace".
Terrific to have this famous work in this newspaper from the nation's capital.
