Page 3 has nearly 2 1/2 columns of reports headed: "Late From California" including documents noting General Riley as governor. There is also a lengthy letter from San Francisco with news from the gold fields, a few bits including: "...some 40 persons are at work washing out gold...one man has a hole sunk 14 ft. below the bank..,.he makes from five ounces to a pound every day. Plus there are other accounts of gold mining: "I have earned today only $12, and the prospects among the workies are rather disheartening..." and much more.
Page 3 also has: "The Late Indian Murder in Florida".
