Some of the column heads include: "One Day Later From The Army" "Trial & Honorable Acquittal of Captain Thornton--General Taylor's Proclamation--Health of the Army--Advance Towards Monterey".
Taylor's proclamation is to the Mexican people & begins: "After many years of patient endurance, the U.S. are at lengthy constrained to acknowledge that a war now exists between our government & the government of Mexico..." with much more, signed in type: Z. Taylor.
There is a letter datelined "Matamoras, July 12, 1846" with much war detail. Also: "Camargo--Reconnaissance To Monterey--General Taylor--Forthcoming Campaign" and a letter from "Off Vera Cruz".
