Item # 644932 ·
THE GLOBE, South Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, July 26, 1909

* Louis Bleriot
* English Channel 1st flight
* Heavier than air aircraft

Page 8 has over a full column taken up with reporting the historic first flight across the English Channel, a feat which many predicted would never happen for many years despite a prize offered by the Daily Mail newspaper (first offered in 1908, then extended to 1909). The Frenchman, Louis Bleriot, was the winner.
The column heads: "CROWDS SCARED BY AIRSHIP" "British Mob Tries to Wreck the French Channel Flier" with more (see).
Twelve pages, various margin tears, most loose at the spine. Should be handled with care.
