THE NEW YORK TIMES, February 5, 1960
- Zora Neale Hurston death
- Folklorist - anthropologist - author
- DAMAGED ISSUE
Page 27 has one column headings: "ZORA HURSTON, 57, WRITER, IS DEAD" "Author in Negro Folklore Was Praised for 8 Books---Studied Haitian Voodoo" with smaller subheads and photo. (see) 1s report coverage on the death of African American folklorist, Zora Neale Hurston. I suspect this is one of the few publications to report this particular event as other titles in our inventory do not.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Fifty-six pages, various cutouts throughout including a large one on the front page (see), but the page of the mentioned report is untouched, a damaged issue, sold as is.
