Charles Lindbergh wins Harmon Trophy....

Item # 629590 ·
THE NEW YORK TIMES, December 14, 1928

* Aviator Charles A. Lindbergh
* Airplane inventor Orville Wright
* Harmon Trophy presentation

Page 5 has a one column heading: "LINDBERGH SHARES HONOR WITH WRIGHT" with subheads that include: "Inventor Escorts Ocean Flier to Conference Platform to Receive Harmon Trophy" and more. (see) First report coverage on Orville Wright presenting aviator Charles A. Lindbergh with the Harmon Trophy as the annual world's outstanding aviator. I suspect this is one of the few publications to report this particular event as other titles in our inventory do not.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 60 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.
