THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, England, November, 1799  Under: "Review of New Publications nearly 4 pages are taken up with: "A Short Account of the Principal Proceedings of Congress...& a Sketch of the State of Affairs Between the United States and France in July, 1798". It begins: "The short account of the exertions, both defensive and offensive of the American States, shows how highly they prize their independence, which was in such imminent danger of being betrayed by her own false patriots to the French..." with much more.
Included are both plates called for.
Complete in 96 pages, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate, 5 by 8 inches, nice condition.

This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
