It begins: "The short account of the exertions, both defensive and offensive of the American States, shows how highly they prize their independence, which was in such imminent danger of being betrayed by her own false patriots to the French..." with much more.

This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
