HARPER'S WEEKLY January 3, 1874  The entire front page features a terrific & very desirable Thomas Nast illustration: "Christmas Eve - Santa Claus Waiting for the Children to Get to Sleep."  This is one of Nast's more iconic Santa images, often reproduced for advertising, promotions, etc. in recent years.
Thomas Nast is credited with creating the modern "jolly" version of Santa.
Inside is found a wealth of other Christmas-related prints including a two-thirds pg. illus. of "Christmas Day - Far From Home.";  two-thirds pg. illus. of "The Christmas Dinner Safe."; full pg. illus. of "Christmas Time - Won at a Turkey Raffle."; full pg. illus. of "Christmas Time - The Feathered Victims' Last Breakfast."; two-thirds pg. illus. of "The Jester's Revenge."; two-thirds pg. Nast illus. of "The Centennial Tea Party."; full pg. illus. of "The Ghosts Frightened By men."; two-thirds pg. illus. of "The United States Senate in  Session."
The front page Nast print is in uncommonly nice, clean condition. There is a bit of disbinding residue at the spine but not close to the image. A great display issue.
