February 24, 1862
THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, Feb. 24, 1862  The top of the front page features a very nice, detailed facsimile of the $5 Confederate bank note. See the hyperlink in the "Opinionator" blog of the New York Times for the fascinating history behind this issue and the story of how it caused devastation to the Confederate economy and much anger among the politicians and merchants in the South. The remainder of the front page has various Civil War and other political reports with over half of the first column taken up with headlines.
Eight pages, minor foxing, nice condition.
