THE COURIER, Norwich, Connecticut, July 2, 1800  Pages 2 & 3 contains a fascinating printing of the constitution for the Philadelphia "Duelling Club" which takes over a full column. It would seem to be a tongue-in-cheek creation, but nonetheless it has interesting & humorous content (see). Part of its preamble notes: "...dueling has lately become the fashion to the infinite satisfaction of all men of true hone, & whereas the opinion that this practice is improper & immoral being only held by old women, or men who ought to wear petticoats..." (see).
