From Austin, Texas, shortly after the Civil War...
DAILY STATE JOURNAL, Austin, Texas, May 10, 1871
- Rare Southwestern title
- Reconstruction era
Texas newspapers from so soon after the Civil War are very uncommon. This issue has various local news of the day & many ads (see photos). About half of the page is taken up with reports from the Texas Legislature.
Complete in 8 pages, never bound nor trimmed so it folds out to one large sheet, very nice condition.
