Knute Rockne sidelined as coach... World Series...

Item # 580196 ·
THE NEW YORK TIMES, October 11, 1929  This 64 page newspaper has a two column headline on page 39: "Rockne Ill at Home as Notre Dame Team Leaves for Navy; Has Nebraska as Guest". Was this the beginning of his leg problem which lead to him coaching his final year in a wheel chair ?

Also a interesting advertisement on page 37 for the movie: "They Had To See Paris" which was the first film Will Rogers starred in that had sound "talkies". This was the opening day for this movie making this ad a very first of it's kind since this movie opened in New York City. The ad measures 9 x 6 inches.

Other news, sports and advertisements of the day with much on the current World Series games between the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Athletics.

Rag edition in great condition.
