Most runs by team in doubleheader....

Item # 577386 ·
THE NEW YORK TIMES, New York, August 15, 1937

* Detroit Tigers break record
* Most runs in doubleheader

This 80+ page newspaper has one column headlines on page 5 of the sport's section (inside) that include: "TIGERS OVERPOWER BROWNS, 16-1, 20-7", "Detroit Makes 40 Hits", and more with box scores (see images).

At Navin Field, the Tigers sweep a doubleheader against the visiting Browns, 16-1 and 20-7. The 36 Detroit runs establishes a new Major League record for runs in a twin bill by one team. This would not be broken until the Texas Rangers score 39 times in 2007. Great to have in this famous NYC title.

Other news of the day throughout. Rag edition in great condition.
