THE OMAHA BEE-NEWS, Nebraska, September 12, 1928

* Ty Cobb last at-bat in MLB
* Great Babe Ruth headline

This 22 page newspaper has a nice banner headline on page 16: "Hopes of Mackmen Fade When Babe Hits 49th Homer" with subheads. (see)

As nice as this is on Babe Ruth, this item is probably more historic on the great Ty Cobb.

As you can see within the text, Cobb was a pitch hitter in the ninth inning.

Research on this game shows that this was the last time Ty Cobb made a appearance at-bat in his long career in the majors. A pop fly to Yankee shortstop Mark Koenig marked his last at-bat in MLB.

Other news of the day. Light browning with minor spine wear, otherwise in good condition.
