Carl Hubbell scoreless innings record....

Item # 568945 ·
THE NEW YORK TIMES, New York, August 2, 1933  This 34 page newspaper has a banner headline on page 20: "Defeat by Braves Reduces Giants' Margin at Top of League to 2 1/2 Games" with subheads that include: "HUBBELL SETS MARKBUT GIANTS LOSE" "Southpaw Hurls 45 Scoreless Innings in Row, Eclipsing League Record of 44" and more with box scores and photo of Hubbell. (see)

Tells of New York Giants pitcher Carl Hubbell setting a new major league record for consecutive scoreless innings. This record would hold for 35 years before being broken by St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Bob Gibson. Nice to have in this famous NYC title.

Other news of the day throughout. Browning with minor spine wear, otherwise good.
