Among the articles within are: "An Account of the Discoveries of Columbus" "An Account of Kamtechatka and its Inhabitants..." which is a peninsula in the eastern portion of Russia; "A Description of Gaspee Island, in the Gulph of St. Lawrence" "Description of Syracuse, Palermo, and Enna" "The Annual Exhortation of the Quakers" "Reasons Against Tolerating Popery" and much more.
There are also various details on the: "...giant, cut out on the side of a very steep hill near Cerne in Dorsetshire. This monstrous figure viewed from the opposite hill, appears almost erect..." (see), with a chart of the various dimensions. Included is a full page plate of of what is known as the Cerne Abbas Giant (see hyperlink for much more).  This remains one of England's best known hill figures and is a major visitor attraction in the region.
The other plate called for in this issue is not present.
Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle" containing various news reports of the day, and which includes most of a column headed: "American News" (see)
Complete in 48 pages, 5 by 8 inches, very nice condition. Includes the full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate.

A very nice magazine from just after the French & Indian War from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
