NEW YORK TIMES, New York City, New York, April 6, 1873  Front page has: "THE WRECKED ATLANTIC," " Personal Narratives--The Hatches Battened Down on Women and Children--Inhuman Conduct of the Crew". This famous ocean steamer crashed upon a rock about fifty yards from Meagher's Island, Halifax, Nova Scotia, on April 1. It was one of the most disastrous wrecks on the North American coast for not only was the vessel and nearly all the cargo a total loss, but 545 people were lost, many of them with scarcely a moment's warning.
Coverage takes up 6 full columns on the front page. Complete in 8 pages and in great condition.
