There is a full color cover page on this issue. The front page of this issue is a photo of "Consecrating New York's Great New Cathedral."

This issue has an illustration of "The Insurgent Senator" by Kemble and a full page illustration of "The Seventh Regiment Marching Down Broadway en route for Washington on April 19, 1861--from a wood-cut in "Harper's Weekly" of May 4, 1861." There are photos of "The 'Seventh' Remembers Its Past"; "New York's Magnificent New Public Library" and a full page illustration of "Young Husband and Tramp: 'Poor Fellow!'" by George Barratt and much more.

Other advertisements of the day are included as well, helping to portray life at the turn of the century.
