THE WORLD, New York, Jan. 14, 1894

* Nellie Bly expose reporting
* "Among The Starving"

Although Nellie Bly's is perhaps most famous for her trip around the world in 72 days, most of her work as a reporter for the World newspaper was exposing various vices in society. She was a pioneer in her field, and launched a new kind of investigative journalism.
This issue has a terrific & very detailed report from her on the starvation in New York City, with heads on page 29 including: "NELLIE BLY Among THE STARVING" "A Startling Picture of Some of the Scenes of Poverty and Suffering in This Great City" "Waiting For Death" "Life In A Loaf Of Bread" and more (see). Included is a illustration headed: "Cooking The Supper Nellie Bly Provided For The Batterson Household" (see) The article is signed by her in type: Nellie Bly.
Nellie Bly worked exclusively for the New York World newspaper so her work would only be reported in this newspaper, save for perhaps limited mention in other competing newspapers.
Complete in 40 pages, light toning, loose at the spine, otherwise nice but should be handled carefully due to potential fragility.
