December 14, 1796

COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, Dec. 14, 1796

* President George Washington
* State of the Union Address
* Full text & signed in script

Most of page 2 is taken up with the historic last state-of-the-union address of President George Washington, headed: "SPEECH of The President of the United States" and ending with his signature in script type: Geo. Washington.
In this address to Congress Washington reflects both upon the accomplishments of the year and of his pending retirement.
Four pages, there is minor burn loss to the right margin affecting no text on the front page and a few letters on page 2, however the Washington Address is on columns 2, 3 & 4 so no affect to it. Otherwise some foxing & damp staining.
