THE DETROIT FREE PRESS, July 30, 1945
* USS Intrepid - Essex-class aircraft carrier
* Luzon, Phillipines - Kamikazes attack
The top of page 3 has a two column heading: "Carrier Hit Most Often Hits Japs More Often" with caption: "Intrepid Backs Its Name" The back page has 4 nice related photos including 2 of the actually attack. (see) First report coverage on the Japanese kamikaze attacks on the USS Intrepid. Reporting on many disasters such as this were kept from the public, sometimes for many months, until the family members of the killed were all notified, giving the reason for this late report. Still a first report.
Complete with all 18 pages, light toning and a little wear at the margins, generally nice.
