Page 6 has an interesting editorial concerning the purchase of Alaska, headed: "The Russo-American Purchase--The Climax of Mr. Seward's Foreign Policy".
The editorial takes close to a full column and is very supportive of the decision, while many of the era were not. It notes in part: "...may be considered the distinguishing & crowning achievement of Mr. Seward's foreign policy...It is larger than the original 13 U.S. colonies...we are inclined to be enthusiastic over this achievement..." and much more.
Twelve pages, nice condition.
