DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Richmond, Virginia, March 25, 1863 A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederates States of America. Much of the front page is taken up with various Civil War reports, from the Confederate perspective. Among the reports are those headed: "From Fredericksburg" "From the Two Great Armies--Fredericksburg and Vicksburg" "From Hilton Head--Exploits of the Black Brigade in Florida--Important Points Occupied & Quantities of Supplies Captured" "Notes Of The War--Affairs at Vicksburg--Movements of the enemy--The Plan of Taking Vicksburg From Below" "General Price on His Way to His Command" and more.
The back page has the always interesting editorial, this one beginning: "The military situation remains unaltered, with the exception of Rosencrans' retreat. That movement is not yet well understood, but is certainly bad for the Confederate cause..." with another portion beginning: "The North now rests its main hope of subjugation upon the idea of starving us into capitulation..." with much more (see for portions). There is also much reporting from: "The Confederate Congress" as well as the "Virginia Legislature".
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with a full banner masthead, never bound nor trimmed, one printing crease near the top which causes no loss of readability, generally in very nice, clean condition.
