NEW YORK WORLD-TELEGRAM, May 12-13, 1941 A pair of issues with conflicting headlines. May 12 notes: "HITLER'S DEPUTY KILLS SELF" with subhead: "Hess Left Insane Notre, Nazis Say" "Disobeyed Ban Against Flying, So Fuehrer Orders Arrest of His Adjutants" with a photo of Rudolf Hess headed: "Suicide".
But he did not commit suicide. The May 13 issue is headed: "HESS FLED A 'DISASTER' IN GERMANY, BRITISH SAY" with: "He 'Came to Save Humanity'; Hitler Talks to Party Heads" with much more. Also a photo of Mrs. Rudolf Hess.
Hess was taken prisoner and eventually convicted of crimes against peace, serving a life sentence in Spandau Prison until his suicide in 1987 at the age of 93.
Both issues are complete and in nice condition with small binding holes at the blank spine margin.
