October 07, 1777

THE LONDON EVENING POST, England, Oct. 7, 1777  The front page has a letter from Paris noting; "...the French ministers negociated with Dr. Franklin in form...France agreed to declare in favour of America & to commence a war with England on condition that the whole trade of America should be restricted to France...Dr. Franklin would not agree to this..." with more on the negotiations.
Page 3 has several items on the war with mention of General Howe, a letter from New York, George Germaine, etc.
The back page has various reports on the war as well including a letter from an officer at Rhode Island, a report from Saratoga noting: "...Burgoyne sent a letter in to General Arnold commanding hi to surrender up that place immediately...Gen. Arnold's answer was that he should defend it as long as he was able..." with more. Some news concerning Peter Parker at Charleston as well.
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on page 3, scattered foxing, nice condition.
