Item # 659732

September 12, 1849

CHARLESTON COURIER, Charleston, South Carolina, September 12, 1849

* Pre-Confederate Charlestown, South carolina
* Illustrated circus ad

Pg. 3 has an ad for the "New Orleans Circus" which includes details and a woodcut of an equestrian performance. Lists North, Stickney & Jones as the proprietors. Other ads present are for Negroes (slaves), shipping, railroads, and alcohol - some of which are illustrated. See images for details.
Archival mend to a small tear along the fold on each leaf, otherwise in nice condition. The folder-size which we have selected to correspond with this issue assumes the issue will be folded at the midfold (since it has already been folded as such).
