July 03, 1790

GAZETTE OF THE UNITED STATES, New York, July 3, 1790  Business from the House of Representatives begins on the front page and on page 2 is mention that: "...A Message was received from the President of the United States, with a copy of an Act of the Legislature of the State of Rhode Island, for ratifying certain articles of amendment to the Constitution of the United States...".
A page 3 report says that George Cabot was chosen by the Massachusetts legislature to take the Senate seat of Tristram Dalton, when Dalton's term expires.
The back page has a portion of the: "New Constitution of the State of South Carolina".
Four pages, wide, never-trimmed margins, some light damp staining, good condition.

Considered by many as the most significant newspaper of the 18th century, as the Gazette was the mouthpiece of all matters political. Most pronouncements from Congress & the President were printed first in this newspaper.
