May 02, 1932

THE TIMES-PICAYUNE, New Orleans, May 2, 1932

* John Cockcroft & Ernest Walton
* 1st splitting of the atom - atomic nucleus

The front page has a very historic report which notes the very beginning of the "atomic age" with a one column heading: "YOUNG CAMBRIDGE SCIENTISTS SPLIT ATOM INTO PARTS" with subheads. (see) See the hyperlink which mentions Cockcroft and Walton as being the first to split the atom.
Twenty-four pages, even toning, damage along the spine/1st column, otherwise good. Should be handled with care.
