UNITED STATES TELEGRAPH, Washington City, Virginia, Nov. 28, 1831

* Confessions of Nat Turner
* Slave insurrection fame

Page 3 has an ad stating that a business has for sale, "The Confession's of Nat Turner". (see)
Turner was the leader of the famous slave insurrection in Virginia that occurred in September of 1831. Describes the "Confessions" as those "voluntarily" made by Turner while "...in prison...and acknowledged by him to be such, when read before the court of Southampton, with the certificate, under the seal of the court." Mentions that there is also an account of the "whole Insurrection". Uncommon to have an ad for this famous book.
Ironically there is a runaway slave ad right above and more. (see)
News of the day with other ads throughout. Four pages in good condition.
