* Jackie Robinson breaks racial barrier... 1st regular season game
* Milton Reynolds breaks aviation record in his "Bombshell"

* Texas City disaster (1st report)

This inclues three very noteworthy reports:

Baseball History:  Page 23 has the historic report of Jackie Robinson's 1st major league regular season game. The brief note includes: "Jackie Robinson, Brooklyn's Negro first baseman, and the first of his race to reach the majors since 1884, failed to get a hit... but his sacrifice-error play... set up the tying and winning runs."

Aviation History:  The front page has a two column head: "'Bombshell' Completes Global Trip In 79 Hrs. - Unofficial Record Cuts 12 Hours From Previous World-Circling Flying Time". This reports Milton Reynolds and his aircraft, "Bombshell", breaking the around the world record by several hours, previously set by Howard Hughes. Much detail along with a time-line of the flight.

Tragedy (Calamity History):  The front page has a dramatic banner headline: "EXPLOSION IN TEXAS KILLS 350", with subheads (see photos). The report begins: "An estimated 350 persons were killed here today in the worst explosion in Texas Gulf Coast history..." with much more. A same day report.

Complete in multiple sections, nice condition.
