June 14, 1845

NILES' NATIONAL REGISTER, Baltimore, June 14, 1845  Inside has most of a column taken up with: "Benjamin Banneker" beginning: "The last number of the Maryland Colonization Journal contains a memoir of Benjamin Banneker, a free colored man of Anne Arundel county, who was distinguished for his mathematical attainments & the worth and excellence of his character..." with much more, including much on his almanacs (see images). Following this is: "Sir Robert Peel and the Slave Trade" taking almost a full column.
There is much on: "Revolution In California" which has under the subhead: "Port of Monterey" mention of: "...trained to arms by Capt. Sutter, (a Swiss setter on the Sacramento)..." with a bit more. Rare to find mention of Sutter from 3 years before gold would be discovered on his property.
Sixteen pages, 8 1/2 by 12 inches, in very nice condition.
